Transmission substation upgrade from 330kV to 420kV
 

When this 330/88/33kV station was refurbished a future increase in service voltage was foreseen. The existing 330kV equipment was replaced by 420kV equipment. Where practical or economical, existing structures like buildings, foundations, gantries etc. were renovated and re-used. The control and protection systems were completely replaced, and the refurbishment was done with the station in operation.

This station was completely restored and refurbished through a period of several months. A mobile substation in a standard shipping container served as temporary supply, reducing the total consumer interruption time to a few hours.

First all HV-cables were moved one by one to the mobile substation. Then the building including ground work, foundations, walls, roof and cable channels was restored. New switchgear and control equipment was installed and tested, and finally all HV-cables were moved back into the permanent substation.
